Capital Stonewall Democrats

Building queer power since 1976

Capital Stonewall Democrats is the voice of LGBTQ+ Democrats in the District of Columbia. We endorse candidates, advocate for our community, and organize our neighbors.

Who we are

Founded in 1976, we are one of the oldest LGBTQ+ Democratic organizations in the country. Our members live in every ward of the District. We work with local and national partners to advance LGBTQ+ rights and improve the lives of the most marginalized members of our community.

Everything we do runs through our members: endorsements are voted at open meetings after candidate forums, leadership is elected from the membership, and our priorities are set by the people who show up.

What we do

Educate

Candidate forums, questionnaires, and ballot guides that make every race legible, so you know where candidates stand.

Advocate

We speak up for LGBTQ+ Washingtonians where decisions get made, and we endorse the candidates who show up for us.

Organize

Doors knocked, neighbors served, and dollars raised for the candidates our members endorse, year-round.
